Background & Credentials
Dr. Danielle DeSantis is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with a Psy.D in Clinical Psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. She performed her undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Rhode Island, and received special certification in grief counseling.
She has an extensive clinical background, in which she has worked with various population and lifespan issues, theoretical orientations, assessment procedures, and modalities of intervention across multiple settings.
Prior to working in her own private practice, she worked in multiple agency settings, university & college counseling centers, and outpatient clinics and hospitals, where she provided assessment and therapeutic services. She’s provided supervision to doctoral students and clinicians eligible for licensure.
She’s also helped to teach two courses on personal growth, and led multiple support groups for children, adolescents, and adults dealing with multiple issues of change, loss, anger, self-esteem, parenting issues, and grief.
More recently, she ran a large group practice for nearly five years, in multiple locations, where she provided clinical supervision to staff, and counseled individuals, couples ,and families.
In her current private practice work, she continues to supervise clinicians and students seeking licensure. She also sees individuals, couples, and families seeking outpatient therapy for a wide range of reasons. She treats individuals across the lifespan (ages 3 and up), and uses a wide range of approaches to fit the presenting issue and person.
Cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, collaborative therapies, and solution focused therapies are just a few approaches she uses in her current practice. She treats depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, anger, weight management, stress, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, and many other issues. She also runs weekly clinical group therapy groups for children, adolescents, and adults dealing with depression, anxiety, divorce, and other adjustment issues.
